Bill Consiglio
Bill Consiglio is currently the President of 21st Century Sports. His responsibilities at 21CS include overseeing the baseball and softball player development and coaching programs. Consiglio also serves at the international level, working with different baseball organizations around the globe to assist them with the promotion and development of baseball in their country. Prior to founding the company, Consiglio served as a Division I college baseball coach from 2000-06. In 2001-02, he served as an Assistant Coach at Miami of Ohio University in Oxford, where he coached 15 players who went on to play professional baseball, an astounding number for only two seasons. After obtaining his Master's Degree in Sport Behavior and Performance, from Miami of Ohio University, Consiglio then moved on to Fairfield University in Connecticut, where he served as the Lead Assistant Coach in both 2003 and 2004.
From there, Consiglio joined the St. John's University coaching staff in Queens for the 2005 and 2006 seasons. During this time, he helped lead the Red Storm to their first Big East Conference regular season championship in more than a decade while continuing to assist with the development of MLB draft-level talent. Consiglio has also served as a coach in the New England Collegiate Baseball League (www.necbl.com) and New York Collegiate Baseball League (www.nycbl.com), both of which belong to the elite category of MLB-sanctioned college summer leagues. In 2003, Consiglio managed the Amsterdam Mohawks, leading the storied franchise to their first NYCBL championship since 1988. After the 2008 MLB First-Year Player Draft, Consiglio has coached over 80 players who have gone on to play professional baseball, a very high number in such a short period of time.
HIGH SCHOOL EXPERIENCE
Since leaving the college game during the summer of 2006, he has continued his coaching career in the high school ranks. During his first season as Assistant Coach at Keio Preparatory Academy (Purchase, N.Y.) in 2007, the Fighting Unicorns elevated their program from sectional champion to state finalist, coming within one out of winning the N.Y.S. Class C state championship. Along the way, the program set a host of school records, including total wins, batting average, E.R.A and number of players who won individual accolades, such as All-State and All-Section awards. In 2008, Keio sealed the deal, winning the school's first-ever baseball state championship. During the summer of '08, Consiglio also assisted with the Hudson Valley's baseball team in New York State's Empire State Games. A collection of the area's best baseball talent, the team went on to win their first gold medal in nearly 20 years.
In 2009 Consiglio moved over to Saunders High School, helping lead the way there with eventual Section I Head Coach of the Year Award Winner Chuck Alben. In their first year together, the Blue Devils achieved a school-record 15 wins and their highest ever playoff seeding (#5). Unfortunately 2010 was a different story, where under Consiglio the Blue Devils lost 10 games by a combined total of 14 runs while competing against the 2nd toughest schedule in all of Section I (over 100 schools in Westchester, Putnam, Rockland and Dutchess counties). During the summer of 2010, Consiglio once again served as an Assistant Coach for the prestigious Empire State Games. He plans on returning for the 2011 summer event.
Under Consiglio's oversight, 21st Century Sports has expanded from an individual operation based in Westchester County, New York to an international presence, providing instruction to children literally around the world. Outside of the local N.Y. area, 21st Century Sports has conducted clinics in Connecticut, Long Island, Canada (Kingston, Ontario) and more recently, Brazil (Ibuina, Sao Paolo). His camps and clinics have consistently garnered attention in newspapers. "I really didn't know much about pitching coming out of high school. I even had trouble getting innings my first couple years in college. But I just kept working hard until I finally got my chance.
